On September 5th, 2013, the National Park Service placed our Mantua Center School building on the National Register of Historic Places. Since the N.P.S. is in charge of such wonders as Yos-
emite, Yellowstone, Denali, the Everglades, and the Redwoods, it is no wonder that they recognize beauty and worth when they see it. This is a very big step forward for our building!
This placement opens the way for Federal grants for historic preservation and renovation at a time when communities and governments across the country recognize the economic value of renovating these buildings. From rural communities to major cities, these solid buildings continue to serve their communities' needs.
All of us in MaRSI must, and will, pursue every avenue of funding available to us and, like the" Minutemen" of old, stand ever ready to lend our minds, our hearts, and our energies to the task of refurbishing the jewel at our township's heart and making it, once again, the heart of our community. WE CAN DO THIS!
